Kevin O’Brien has joined us as Client Executive. He brings with him extensive experience of delivering multi-million pound solutions for FTSE 100 companies. His knowledge and skills will help prospective and existing clients of Leading Resolutions develop new opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.

After forming a solid grounding in IT operations, development and programme management during spells with Strand Lighting, San Paolo Bank, Lyons Tetley, Allied Domecq and Virgin Our Price between 1988 and 2000, Kevin was appointed Business Solutions Director at Virgin Retail.

Here, he led commercial projects including a campaign to increase the store offer to include Virgin mobile phones. The success of this new category in the Our Price stores led to the development of the V.Shop concept personally sponsored by Sir Richard Branson. Kevin was an integral part of the executive team that devised and delivered the V.Shop transformation of more than 100 Our Price stores in just six months. Ground breaking innovations such as digital listening posts, plasma screens, touch screen kiosks and extranet saw V.Shop win a Retail Week Best Use of Technology Award.

In 2002, Kevin joined Mothercare Plc as Divisional IT Director, where, as part of the senior turnaround team, he oversaw the critical technological elements of a program to increase the company’s product range and incremental sales. His key achievements included devising and delivering the IS strategy, merging two IT divisions into a coherent department and completing due diligence across all systems for the purchase of Early Learning Centre. Kevin also led the integration of an EPOS solution with existing web systems – a market sector first – enabling Mothercare to become a true multi-channel retailer. The outstanding success of the turnaround program led to Mothercare claiming a Retailer System Retailer of the Year award.

Most recently, Kevin was Head of IS at Comet Group, part of Kesa Electricals Plc, where, after joining in 2007, his role was to redefine the group’s IS strategy. Transforming the IT team, Kevin oversaw the strategic move to a new platform, SOA enablement and the first UK implementation of Websphere 7. This opened several new sales channels including a mobile transactional site, Andriod and Apple mobile apps and Comet’s eBay platform, contributing to a substantial growth in sales. He also challenged business thinking and delivered solutions which enabled Comet to become the number one, measured by market share, in the white goods sector. Kevin also chaired the operating board to drive operational efficiencies and assess business opportunities.

Kevin has delivered award winning solutions, project management, successful offshoring and industry recognised best in class teams throughout his career. He joins Leading Resolutions as part of the senior team to grow the business and offer his substantial experience to existing and potential clients.

The holder of an OND in Business Studies and an IDPM (Institute of Data Processing Management) Professional IS qualification, Kevin is also a member of the Fujitsu CIO Advisory Board.

Said Jeff Motto, CEO of Leading Resolutions, “With his solid commercial acumen and willingness to challenge existing cost bases, Kevin has racked up a string of major achievements in some extremely competitive retail environments. We are delighted that his skills and expertise will now be available to clients of Leading Resolutions.”
